Coontail Water Discoloration

We are aware that some of our Coontail Water customers have been experiencing discolored water.  As many may already know, we have been undergoing a huge project at our treatment plant.  This project involves painting the elevated tank, painting the filter system tanks and replacing the sand in these filters.  This project was indeed funded with grant money from the American Rescue Act Plan but it was not initiated because of any issues or problems with the system.  The tanks are inspected on a regular basis and we rely on this inspection report to determine when it's time to paint and/or update the system.

However, in order to make these improvements, our elevated tank had to be drained and taken off line.  The tank has been painted, refilled with water and is back in operation now.  The filter tanks also had to be drained and taken offline in order to be painted.  New sand will be put in each filter tank once the painting is completed and then the filter system will be put back in service.  While this system is down, the water has not been going through the filtration system.  It is, however, still being treated.

We are required by the state health department to take routine samples and we have complied with this thoroughout the entire project.  We have even taken more samples than is required.  All of our samples have come back free of any contaminants.  Our water has passed every standard that is required.

We know that having discolored water is unpleasant and we are doing everything we can to alleviate this.  The filtration project should be completed within a few weeks and the discoloration should be a thing of the past.  We thank you for your patience and your understanding as we strive to make Coontail Water even better for each and every one of us.
